VII III. Mindful Modesty cont'd...
half-naked in front of guests who visit their space, as long as they have the right heart.
Be mindful that whatever is on the exterior can trickle down to the interior of your heart. Hence, one would be so defensive. You can weaken your morality by distorting such notions. Yes, it starts with your heart but when you become transformed in heart you also start to chip away at despicable and tedious external things until you are no longer a walking contradiction.
Self or Society
The root of your carelessness is selfishness—self satisfaction; self exaltation. Being so consumed by the self that you don’t care about what others see or about the ramifications. We don’t live in this world for or by ourselves. Dressing modestly shows that one has not only respect for themselves but a charity for others.
Some people will say well at least they're not putting another person’s life in danger by how they dress but just because it's not an imminent threat doesn’t rule it out as dangerous. You could be slowly hurting society and other smaller minds who may look to you and seek to copy your ways later. They may even want to break the mold and exaggerate your look and this is how sacred norms slowly become unraveled and undone.
When society becomes desensitized to certain looks, the surrounding industries whether media, music, apparel all start to feed off this climate of culture—marketing ideas that align or even provide more shock value to bring about attention and sales. That is how they deem all things worthy. Whatever explicit content you see on TV, or how they demonstrate people dressed within the home, is nothing but a reflection of the outside world.
Whatever we contribute is contagious within society sooner or later. If we continue to submit to the lewd fashions of this world, we will become bait towards the downward cycle of indecency. To foolishly think well it's about me and feeling good about myself, not about impressing others or caring about what others think is ignorant. A reasoning like this places you in a trench that is far removed from seeking help or truth. Your outward expression slowly contributes to society whether you want it, know it or like it.
“We may use a pretext such as sport, hygiene, health resorts…To avoid too much reaction, one would have to progress in a methodical manner: first undress up to the elbow; then up to the knees; then arms and legs completely uncovered…eventually, people will walk around naked or almost naked, without batting an eye. and when modesty is removed the sense of sacred will be extinguished, morality weaken, and faith die of suffocation.“
—Masonic Directive
“As long as modesty will not be put into practice, society will continue to degrade. Society reveals what it is by the clothes it wears.”
—Pope Pius XII

...Michael will rise up,
the great leader, who stands up for the sons of your people...and at that time, your people will be saved, all who will be found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will waken: some to everlasting life, and others to a reproach that they will always see. Daniel 12: 1-2
